善变副球菌菌落直径3-4mm，在LB培养基上菌落或成单一、成对或成堆生长。呈浅黄色,圆形边缘完整，表面光滑稍凸起。单菌直径0.5 – 1.1 μm。gf7最适生长温度30℃。非严格需氧菌，在10℃～37℃范围内均能生长。6天可以降解60%以上的在无机盐培养基中添加的50mg/L氯氰菊酯和功夫菊酯。革兰氏染色阴性、接触酶阳性，氧化酶阳性。无运动性。可利用甘油、醋酸盐和丙酮酸盐等。可利用无机氮源（NH4H2PO4和NH4Cl）生长。呼吸代谢，不发酵。
