弗氏柠檬酸杆菌革兰阴性杆菌，有周鞭毛，能运动，无芽胞，无荚膜。具有氨苄青霉素（Ampr）、卡那霉素（Kanr）、四环素（Tcr）及链霉素（Strr）抗性。光滑、低凸、温润、半透明或不透明，表面有光泽，边缘不整齐。菌体杆状，直径1.0，长2—6μm。菌落直径2—4mm。出芽繁殖为主，酒类增香。用于白酒增香。可以含有10ppm MG的无机盐培养基中正常生长，最适生长温度为30℃。
