ATCC medium: 573 Bacillus medium
(NH4)2SO4.....................1.3 g
KH2PO4 .......................0.37 g
MgSO4 . 7H2O .................0.25 g
CaCl2 . 2H2O .................0.07 g
FeCl3 ........................0.02 g
Glucose......................1.0 g
Yeast extract................1.0 g
Distilled water..............1.0 L
Adjust pH to 4.0 with 10 N H2SO4. For solid medium, make up above solution in double strength and adjust pH to 3.5.
Make water agar at 40 g/L. Autoclave separately. Cool to about 50C and mix equal volumes of both solutions aseptically.
This procedure avoids acid hydrolysis of the agar.
