ATCC medium: 2017 Modified BHI with tannic acid
Basal medium:
Brain heart infusion....................37.0 g
L-Cysteine . HCl.........................0.5 g
Glucose..................................0.5 g
Cellobiose...............................0.5 g
Soluble starch...........................0.5 g
Hemin solution (1.0%)....................1.0 ml
Na2CO4 solution (8.0%) ..................50.0 ml
Tannic acid solution (see below).......250.0 ml
Agar (if needed)........................15.0 g
Distilled water........................700.0 ml
Prepare basal medium and autoclave at 121C for 15 minutes.
Tannic Acid Solution:
Tannic acid.............................25.0 g
Distilled water........................250.0 ml
Neutralize with NaOH and filter-sterilize. Add to sterile basal medium. Note: When using agar, use only 5.0 g of tannic acid.
