Bring medium without reducing agent to a boil and cool under a stream of oxygen-free nitrogen. Add cysteine and adjust medium for a final pH of 7.0. Dispense medium in 5.0 ml aliquots under an atmosphere of 100% N2. Cap tubes with butyl rubber stoppers and autoclave medium at 121C for 15 minutes.
