白喉棒杆菌是棒杆菌属的一个种，最初由克列布（ E． Klebs）所发现。该菌的产生和前噬菌体有关，该菌可产生外毒素。菌体一端或两端可见异染颗粒，在亚碲酸钾血琼脂平板上生成黑色菌落。
