副偶然分枝杆菌，在Lowenstein—Jensen培养基内生长3—4天，平滑、湿润、薄、软，乳脂色，10—14天变为微黄色。28—37℃生长良好；一些菌株45℃生长(A组)，另一些不生长(B组)； 52℃都不生长。3—4天为长2—3微米的杆菌，老培养物内为抗酸的短杆菌和类球菌，不能运动。未见菌丝体。
