Host Organism : IL-2 dependent Feline Lymphocyte Cultures cells (FDC4-E) feline peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC)
Incubation : Duration: 12-21 days at 37C in CO2
Effect : Yes, in vitro effects: Cytopathic effects (syncytia formation) beginning 3 days p.i. with cell lysis by 12 to 21 days p.i.
Comments : Isolate of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus which is highly infectious in vivo and produces a rapid inversion of the CD4+/CD8+ receptor ratio in infected cats. Viral reverse transcriptase is Mg-dependent. Pretreat host cells with DEAE-dextran (25ug/ml). Adsorb virus to the cell suspension for one hour at 37^C with gentle vortexing every 15 minutes. Plate 10(6) infected cells/ml in fresh medium (100 units/ml IL-2). Isolate of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus which is highly infectious in vivo and produces a rapid inversion of the CD4+/CD8+ receptor ratio in infected cats. Viral reverse transcriptase is Mg-dependent.
