Comments : Derived from NIAID V-024-001-012. A21 may be a natural recombinant between poliovirus and rhinovirus (Shafren et al J. Virol 71:4736,1997; Hughes et al, J.Gen Virol 70:2943,1989) Identical to Coe virus. (Schmidt, NJ et al., Proc. Soc. Exp. Biol. Med. 107: 63, 1961>) Complete destruction of cell sheet in HAm cell cultures occurs within 3 days. A21 is associated with human upper respiratory infections.
